If you do not know yourself then you leave the authority to someone else to identify you, and through time you will be accustomed to that label. When you allow someone else to name you, you have essentially given him or her the power to define you!

Praise Allah Lord of souls. Honor to His illustrious Prophet Noble Drew Ali. Its true. Knowing one's identity is truly the order of the day. There are at least three aspects of identity. The first one is nationality. Nationality is defined as "the quality of membership in a particular nation." This aspect of identity has a plethora of far reaching implications such as ethnic, tribal and racial charateristics as they relate to a nation, people and individuals. Other implications have to do with legal, political and social standings and their relationship to and in the human family. These not only distinguish peoples but also give way to certain and specific orientations as it relates to those particular peoples.
The Holy Prophet said: "In all other governments when a man is born and raised there and asked for his national descent name and if he fails to give it, he is misused, imprisoned or exiled." and "because they place their trust upon issue and names formed by their forefathers." (MOORISH LITERATURE PAGE 6 "A DIVINE WARNING BY THE PROPHET FOR THE NATIONS")
Why? why do governments place their trust in the responsibility of it's citizens knowing their nationality? Well for the reasons previously stated. Nationality implies certain orientations related to that particular people. How they worship, dress, speak, behave, and the principles to which they adhere.
The second aspect of identity is who am I? Who am i within myself? Knowing who you are nationally and individually influences the way you live; The way you do things. If i know and understand that my forefathers were the founders of civilization, that invokes emulation within my heart to try to master the aspects of civilization, that is: to demand excellence from myself in everything i do.
Finally, the third aspect of identity is the proclamation of who one is. Proclaiming one's nationality is publicly and privately professing one's national identity. The Holy Prophet said: "We are teaching our people their nationality and their Divine Creed that they may know that they are a part and a partial of this said government and know that they are not Negros, Colored Folks, Black People or Ethiopians because these names were given to slaves by slave holders in 1779 and lasted until 1865 during the time of slavery." (act 6 of the DC and By-Laws.)
These names also have certain implications as they relates to a people. All these names have negative, false characteristics and one cannot be recognized by any government or any people if and when that people cling to those negative and false characteristics. Peace. The AGM.

Peace and greetings. My child's father and I have been reading and studying the Holy Koran in Cleveland, OH. We are looking for more literature for our studies. Could you recommend any additional literature to enrich our studies? We have also considered attending one of the temples in Cleveland.
